What is DTP?
DTP stands for Desktop Publishing. DTP is formatting of the layout of text and images on a computer before they are converted to paper or an on-line format. It also includes graphic localization (creation and editing of graphics and diagrams).
What is HTML Publishing?
HTML or HyperText Markup Language is a computer language devised to allow website creation. These websites can then be viewed by anyone else connected to the Internet using browsers like Internet Explorer. With the number of non-native English speaker internet users on the rise, it definitely make economic sense to have your website translated into other languages to capitalise on the global market.
What are certifications? Why do I need them?
In general, a certified translation (certification) is one to which the translator has added a statement that he or she is fluent in both the source and the target language and certifies under penalty of perjury that the translation is true, accurate, and correct "to the best of my knowledge and ability". The statement may be made under oath, or "under penalty of perjury", and may be notarized to confirm the identity of the person signing the statement.
It is suitable for official purposes and for submission to authorities.
In Translation Express, the certification is provided by the company and is signed by an authorised figure from the organisation to declare that the translation is true, accurate and correct translation of a source text. Different governmental bodies may have different requirements for certification. Please check with the relevant authorities on their specific requirements before submitting any certification.
What is a Notarization?
A Notarized translation is a translation that is signed and dated by the translator in the presence of a notary public. Notarization indicates that the person signing the certification has provided the notary with identification, but says nothing at all about the quality of the translation. Some institutions may require notarized translation of academic records and credential. As such requirement differ from institutions to institutions, so do make sure you are fully informed of the notarization requirement. Notarization will involve an extra charge to cover the notary's fee, the time and trouble for notarization, and shipment of the paper copy.
Is editing necessary?
In order to ensure the validity, consistency and accuracy of the translation, editing is a process that cannot be missed. Our editors are mostly senior linguists who have been in the translations industry for many years. Their primary role is to ensure that the translations fully reflect the meaning of the original text. They also play an important role to ensure consistency should there be more than one translator involved in the translation of a huge document.
What is proof reading and why is it part of translations?
The proofreading phase follows after ensuring that both translation and editing have been properly completed. This usually involves spell-checks and a last round of reading before the document is ready for sign-off.
